Mrs. Descheemaeker's Visual Art Classes
Hello, my name is Mrs. Descheemaeker. I am a visual arts teacher at Cedarcrest High School. I have been teaching Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Cartooning, Design, AP Studio Art and Yearbook classes since 2003.
The visual art department provides diverse learning opportunities for all students at Cedarcrest High School. I love my job because each day I get to work with great kids in a creative environment. I believe all students can benefit from taking an art class regardless of their future career plans. Learning to think creatively and critically about design, space, and images are important skills to acquire. My classes are hands on and project based, but I also enjoy teaching art history and art critique.
I grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1998 and have been exploring the many towns, cities, mountains and waterways ever since.
I attended Penn State University to attain my BA in Telecommunications and Western WA University for my Masters in Teaching, Teaching Certificate and Endorsement in Art.
In my free time I love to work on my own art, especially drawing, painting and mixed media collages. I also enjoy spending time with my family and love to play outside on my snowboard, surfboard and mountain bike.
